Hey my amazing readers,
I know I have been MIA for a few months now. And I’m so very sorry about it. The last few months have been crazy.
A devastating second wave in India, almost deciding to not go for Master’s, losing sleep over visa slots, traveling a thousand miles for the visa interview, changing plans to come to the States 3 weeks early, losing sleep over air tickets, packing in less than a week, traveling 8000 miles to reach the States, and then traveling amidst the surge of Delta variant to reach Dartmouth - it has been an exhausting roller-coaster ride of experiences. But hey, I have made it here and I am excited.
With this, now I will go back to the original frequency of the newsletter, two times a month on Friday nights Eastern Time (starting this Friday). I will also make a few changes to the format of the newsletter. I will talk more about it in the next issue. But before you back to your day, here are my first impressions of this new place.
It’s so green. For reference, here are the right and left sides of my apartment respectively.
It’s cold. And from what I’ve heard it only gets colder.🥶
The sense of community. It’s a relatively small school and town. Almost everyone knows everyone else and there’s a really strong sense of community.💚
That’s really all I have for this week; I’ll be back again soon with more!
PS - Did the title sound somewhat familiar to you? It’s inspired by the title of the novel Love in the Time of Cholera by the Nobel prize-winning author Gabriel García Márquez. If you are looking to explore the romance/magical realism genre, give this a read.
If you like this, forward this to a friend so they can sign up here. You can connect with me on Twitter, or if you would like to talk, let’s get in touch.
See you soon. Cheers!
It indeed is an experience that is both amazing and scary at the same time. Very well written Srish.
I wish you all the success in your endeavours
See you in class tomorrow :D :P
Glad to hear that you made it to Dartmouth in spite of all trammels you had to face. Wish you the best while you are there and beyond, Srishti! Keep writing :)
